The new original film is written and directed by Oscar® nominated Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado, and produced by Oscar® nominated Mark Swift — the filmmaking team behind Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Grammy and Oscar® winning superstar H.E.R. and Liza Soberano (Lisa Frankenstein, Alone/Together) star as Jo and Raissa. They have been best friends since elementary school but have now graduated high school and are about to embark on their separate journeys in life. While celebrating their last night together, Jo and Raissa stumble upon a mysterious portal that transports them to the breathtaking island of Nakali, filled with the magical and mythological creatures they heard stories about while growing up in their Filipino families. Some of these creatures become friends, others become foes. Accompanied by the well-meaning but hapless wolf-dog Raww (Dave Franco) and a small but mighty crew of companions, Jo and Raissa must face The Dreaded Manananggal (Tony Award-winning icon Lea Salonga), the most terrifying creature on the island.
