About the event

A sensual and heartwarming feel-good film that makes it abundantly clear that old age is anything but a farewell to stubbornness, a zest for life, dreams, and burning passion — winner of the Audience Award at the Göteborg Film Festival!

Maryam Touzani follows up the success of The Blue Caftan with the legendary Carmen Maura in the lead role as the life-affirming María Ángeles. She loves her life on Calle Malaga in Tangier's vibrant Spanish quarter, but when her daughter decides to sell her apartment, she sets a secret plan in motion — one that involves spirits, games and gambling, and buying back the furniture her daughter has sold. And along the way, she gets a delightful surprise thrown in for good measure.
