About the event
Lena Ahlgren Johansson has written a magnificent debut novel — a swirl of past and present — narrated by the unforgettable Harriet, 35. Harriet has an infallible memory. She has a collection of typewriters. And she knows everyone in the Blekinge village where she grew up and never left. When the county museum plans to highlight the area's industrial history, she is hired to dig up material for the exhibition. By her side is a melancholy caretaker with keys to the old, now-closed typewriter factory. Soon, Harriet's former sweetheart — who long ago moved away — also turns up to take part in the project.
Lena will talk about the book, how it came to be, and about the writing process.
Organised by Söderköping läser, a collaboration between Söderköpings bibliotek and Söderköping Bokhandel & Antikvariat, with support from the Swedish Arts Council.
